I made this film about Alex and Kajsa when I was in Lisbon in November 2022.
We had dinner at their restaurant, Trattoria Al Sanpietrino, on the Friday night of our trip. After service we sat down with them, drank a lot of homemade limoncello and talked about everything from vegan food to ancient philosophers. I ended the night saying: "I have to make a film about you."
Two days later we met at the restaurant at 2 pm, and I started filming Alex making the ragu.
It was a great day, with a lot of talking and a fair amount of red wine. This place is one of a kind. If you're in Lisbon, go there. For me it was the best Italian food I have ever had, vegan or not. I had the lasagna.
I made friends for life that weekend.
That dinner is also the reason I started my YouTube channel. A year later I went back and made a proper documentary about Alex and Kajsa: The New Tradition Table, film No. 4 in 100 Documentaries.
